The Tower of Americas is one of San Antonio's most popular attractions, locals and visitors alike come to enjoy the stunning views, great food and to marvel at this extraordinary structure.

Standing 750 feet it's one of the tallest freestanding buildings in the United States, 67 feet taller than the Washington Monument and 87 feet taller than the Seattle Space Needle.

It boasts, a glass elevator, two observation decks, a rotating restaurant and bar, a banquet room and meeting space, 4D thrill ride, café, snack bar, gift shop and views of San Antonio that are unrivaled.

After paying the admission fee, most people head straight for the elevator, once everyone’s on board its straight up at six mph, it takes about a minute to reach the observation deck, the ride is amazingly quick and smooth, with  views of downtown to the north and the suburbs to the west.

If the elevator is crowded and you have kids with you try and get them close to the window, this way they'll have an unobstructed view for the ride up.

There are two observation decks. The inner deck is enclosed behind glass windows, central air keeps the temperature comfortable. Amenities include a gift shop/snack bar and some tables and chairs. Several high powered telescopes allow you to zoom in and get up-close and personal with the streets and buildings below.

There’s also a mural on the interior wall covered with old photographs, drawings and articles about the history of San Antonio.  The inner deck is a great place to sit back, relax and soak up the mile high atmosphere.

The outer deck has high ceilings with large open-air windows, a plexiglass panel at the bottom of the window provides safe and easy viewing.

The circular platform is the perfect place to see the city in all directions, however, the most popular spot is the north side, people gather there for the breathtaking view of downtown San Antonio.

The Chart House Restaurant ( owned by Landry’s restaurant chain ) rotates 360 degrees, once per hour, presenting guests with constantly changing views, at night it is absolutely spectacular.

Featuring upscale dining and a sophisticated bar area, contemporary interior with rich wood and leather, it is a premier location for black tie galas, weddings and business meetings.

The ground floor features a well stocked gift shop, you can find everything from hats, t-shirts, books, cards, just about anything to do with San Antonio and Texas. The Tower Cafe offers a variety of food, snacks and ice cold beverages. An ultra-modern lounge is also available.
